We spend hours each week in the gym trying to tighten and tone our legs, arms, glutes, and abs. Why not do exercises to tighten and tone the muscles in our face?

 

According to many dermatologists, it is important to regularly massage, stretch, and stimulate the muscles in your face, keeping them active and engaged. Facial fitness has an extremely beneficial impact on the aging process and overall appearance of the skin.

Facial exercises are very easy and can be done wherever, whenever (just be careful, you may look silly if in public!) A simple routine can take less than 2 minutes, and leave your face feeling tighter and more engaged throughout the day.

Before you begin, always remember to hydrate your face. You don’t want to stretch and flex rough, dry skin. This could lead to further cracks and roughness. Begin your workout with a few neck and face stretches.

Tilt your head from side to side holding the pose for a few seconds. Then stretch your jaw, expanding your mouth and lowering your chin towards the neck. Next, close your mouth and expand your cheeks as much as you can. Finally raise and lower your eyebrows a few times to complete your facial stretching.

 

Next, engage your muscles by applying gentle pressure across your cheekbones.

Begin by applying pressure to the bridge of your nose, tapping outward across the apples of your cheeks and cheekbones, all the way out to the sides of your forehead. Repeat this motion 4 or 5 times.

 

Cheek lifter

Begin by sucking your cheeks together to make a fish face. Then lift your cheeks, trying to smile. Repeat this 10 times.

 

Instant Eye Lifter

Place the knuckles of your index finger on your brow bones. Place your thumbs under your cheeks, giving yourself a “thumb mustache.” Hold this pose while squinting your eyes 10 times. Make sure you are squinting hard enough to feel tension.

 

Neck Tightener

Purse your lips together into a “duckface” while at the same time gritting and flexing your jaw. Tilt your chin up towards the ceiling for 10 seconds while flexing your jaw.

 

Angry Brow Wrinkle smoother

Furrow your brows into an angry face while holding the skin above your eyebrow to not allow it to wrinkle. Repeat this 10 times.

 

Facial draining effect

Brush your right thumb across your left cheek, gently pulling the skin. Repeat this process on your right cheek using your left thumb. This exercise can also be applied to the forehead. This will enhance the drainage of your skin and activate circulation.

 

Your facial muscles should feel tighter even after one workout! Continue to exercise your face weekly and you will build firm and tones muscles which will reduce or eliminate the look of sagging, droopy skin.
